مر المسيح عليه السلام بقوم من اليهود فقالوا له شراً، فقال لهم خيراً، فقيل له: إنهم يقولون شراً، وتقول لهم خيراً؟ فقال: كل واحد يُنفق مما عنده.
The Christ, peace be upon him, passed by a group of Jews who spoke evil towards him. He replied in a good and kind manner to them. It was said to him: “They are speaking evil words to you, and you say good words to them?” He said: “Everyone spends from what he has.”
إن الإنسان مخير فيما يعلم، مُسَيَّر فيما لا يعلم.. أي أنه يزداد حرية كلما ازداد علما.
Man has free will in the things he has knowledge about, but is pushed forward by other forces in the things he has no knowledge about. In other words, his freedom increases whenever his knowledge increases.
"A man once enquired of ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azīz, ‘When should I speak?’ And he replied, ‘Whenever you wish to remain silent.’ ‘And when should I be silent?’ the man asked, and Umar replied, ‘Whenever you wish to speak.’"
